The New Multipurpose Dora

Feb 27, 2010

She is still around, we tried to hide her, take out her batteries, disguise her, pretend she died and went to heaven. Monster kept asking for her back and kept re-discovering her under mysterious circumstances. We are now intimidated by the doll and have abandoned ideas of throwing her off the 59th street bridge in a sack. We do however, need to find something to do with it, something that will take the edge off of continuing to tolerate her in our home:

The creativity gene runs deep in our blood.

Life as a Toddler--Gimme that coffee!

February 22, 2010
The kid has a reputation to uphold; So many expectations can deprive a child of her energy.

I am officially giving her material to call me a bad parent 25 years from now. Or to be a bad parent, give her own kids coffee and then procure this entry as proof that she inhaled coffee as a baby and still turned out near normalok.

The new look for Monster's playground

February 21, 2010

I may or may not have over done the late evening adventure in the abandoned park; we have witnessed a slightly disturbing cough and snotty nose since last night. It was cool though, for once I wasn't afraid of Monster getting run over by bigger kids....or by any kid at all!

Thank God for small breaks in bad weather

De de dil China Town mein...

The shopping spree for Turkey continues:

Today in China Town, we hunt down the best deal on Pashminas; 10 for $40. The cashmere/silk ratio isn't as good as I wanted it to be, but the designs were the best in the 55/45 material. Also discovered a hidden cove of bootleg designer bags but I need to shop for those with someone who understands the value of a fake label (lolz). So I had to wistfully let go of a $55 Chanel tote but I vow to go back one day without telling the shopping Nazi.

Why does he know me so well?

Feb 10, 2010

First of all, I know the dates are out of order, but I also have a Monster screaming under the computer table yanking at the wires, so I'm posting as I can get at 'em.

So on the morning after the big storm, I woke up way early than should be considered normal, and had a stupid idea in my head to go to gym. I didn't think I'd be stupid enough to actually act on it. It wasn't so bad and on my way back I had another bright idea upon seeing Mr. Ozturk's snowed in baby Subi.

At home, all I said to Mr. Ozturk was "some kids were jumping on the cars with their sleds" and he goes,

"Did you make footprints on the car with your sneakers?" And I hadn't even shown him the picture yet.

We need some time away from each other, just so I can jump him with surprises.
